Recycle of Light Bulbs

As of Jan. 1, 2014, in line with a new federal law, manufacturers stopped making 40-watt and 60-watt incandescent light bulbs in favor of the use of compact fluorescent lamps, halogen bulbs or light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs. The city of Pflugerville does not accept the traditional incandescent bulbs for recycling at the recycle center, as they are considered a hazardous waste item. However, citizens may dispose of them at Home Depot, where a recycle area is in place for these bulbs. Other locations for recycling have not yet been identified.
